Mobile App Privacy Policy (Purpose and Scope)
We take the privacy of our users seriously and this Policy is intended to inform you of the types of information we collect and how we use it. By installing the ALC Mobile App, you hereby consent to Allen Lund Company’s (“Company”) collection, use and disclosure of certain data which may, under some jurisdictions, be considered personal data.
SMS Messaging and Texting Policy
We may communicate via text or SMS messaging with independently contracted carriers, through use of third party service provider "Twilio". The Messaging Program allows users to receive mobile messages (Text and SMS). This Privacy Policy applies to your participation in the Program, and by participating in the Messaging Program you agree to receive mobile messages from Allen Lund Company, including, without limitation, messages via SMS and Text at the phone number you have provided relating to notifications and communications with independently contracted carrier in connection with your business.
If you no longer agree to this Privacy Policy, you agree to reply “STOP” to any mobile message sent in order to opt-out of the Messaging Program with respect to messages from the associated phone number used on our behalf for the communication(s). If you opt-in again (reply "START") to any message sent in order to opt-in to the Messaging Program with respect to the associated phone number after replying “STOP”, we will resume sending messages from the associated phone number to the phone number associated with your opt-in and this participation in the Messaging Program again will be subject to this Privacy Policy.
We collect the following types of information through the ALC App:
The geolocation of the mobile device (Latitude and Longitude) on which this app is installed.
The foregoing location data is collected beginning when the user clicks on the "Start Button" of a Load and continues through delivery of the Load. We use this location data to track the location of goods being transported (Life of a Load). The user will need to enable Location Services on the user’s device for the app to function. The user must not pick up the Load unless the user agrees to keep Location Services enabled for the Life of the Load. By picking up the Load, the user consents to sharing the user’s location with us from pickup until the load is delivered, including when the app is running in the background and the user is not using the app, and you consent to our sharing your geolocation data with the shipper and its designees. For diagnostic purposes, we also collect the make, model and Operating system of the phone. Data like Email Address and Name are not collected by ALC Mobile App. We also collect App Usage information, such as the features of the App you use and the length of time you spend using the App.
Security of Collected Data and Sharing of Data
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. We do not store any personal information about the app in our systems for more than 3 days. Your personal data is not disclosed, shared or sold to any entity except we share your geolocation data with shipper’s and their designees. You may “opt out” of our sharing your geolocation data with third parties on certain loads (in which case we will only share your city by city progress). Obtain written confirmation from one of our transportation brokers to confirm if you may “opt out” of geolocation sharing on a particular load. By proceeding, and picking up a load, you agree to the collection and sharing of your geolocation or city by city progress as applicable, for the life of the load. You have the right to request deletion of your geolocation data. Email an ALC transportation broker to request deletion of your geolocation data.
Your Choices
You may choose to stop sharing your location at any time by contacting the company or by adjusting the settings on your device to stop the collection of location information. You may also choose to uninstall the Mobile App any time. In the event you do decide to stop sharing this information with Allen Lund, the Customer will no longer have access to accurate and up to date tracking information.
